Main Objective:
To strengthen good governance, accountability, transparency, compliance, efficiency and ethical conduct within the Provincial Health Service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, circulars and institutional procedures.
- Identify and address administrative weaknesses, risks and irregularities.
- Monitor institutional performance and conduct internal monitoring visits.
- Receive, coordinate and follow up on complaints and internal issues.
- Monitor implementation of decisions, recommendations and corrective actions.
- Promote integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Provide recommendations to improve efficiency and quality of services.
- Maintain records and prepare periodic reports on institutional issues and follow-up actions.

Methods for Submitting Complaints to the IAU – PDHS Uva
Complaints may be submitted to the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU), PDHS Uva through the following methods:
- Written Complaint – Submit a signed complaint letter directly to the IAU/PDHS Office.
- Email – Send the complaint to the official IAU email address. – pdhsuvaiau@gmail.com
- Online Complaint Form – Submit through an official Google Form/web-based complaint system.
- Telephone/Hotline – Report the matter by telephone to the designated IAU officer. – 0552223098
- In-Person Submission – Personally submit the complaint or discuss the matter with an authorized IAU officer.
- Institutional Referral – Complaints may be referred to the IAU by RDHS offices, hospitals, MOH offices or other health institutions.
- Confidential/Anonymous Submission – Where permitted, complaints may be submitted without revealing the complainant’s identity, particularly for sensitive matters.
All complaints should be recorded, assessed for appropriate action, referred to the relevant authority when necessary, and followed up while maintaining confidentiality and protecting the complainant from retaliation.
